Walters’ Season of Giving 2016

Walters Management is committed to doing our part to help make the communities we work and live in the best that they can be. Although we recognize that there is always a need for giving, there is a heightened need during this time of year. With that in mind, we have sought out several opportunities, above and beyond our regular philanthropic activities, to give back this holiday season.

Boys and Girls Club Gifts

A favored holiday tradition at Walters is the collection drive we host at our annual Holiday Luncheon. Each year, the Boys and Girls Club gives us a wish list that lets us know what the most desired items will be so that staff can shop accordingly and are then able to bring the perfect toy or gift. By collecting donations at our event, we are able to provide gifts for their holiday party where they distribute the presents to children and teens in need.

As very involved members of industry leading organization CAI®, we participated as a drop-off location for their STANDUP for Kids Supply Drive. The STANDUP for Kids Supply Drive provided local homeless and at-risk youth with necessities such as hygiene products, blankets, and interview clothing. By the end of the month, we were able to fill our entire box!

Above and beyond donation collections, this December we were able to do something special for a homeowner that was in exceptional need. After a horrible turn of events, the veteran and his family were left with severe damages to their home, substantial medical issues, and a massive financial burden at an already stressful time of year. Recognizing their need for an act of kindness and some holiday magic, our team contributed Toys R’ Us gift cards to help fund the family’s Christmas. The gift cards were delivered by members of our South County team, Jamie Kim and Cynthia Salas, who were moved by the family’s joy and appreciation. Showing us the strength of community, our industry partner, O’Connell Landscape Maintenance has generously offered to replace any landscape materials damaged from the crash.

We are very proud of our team’s combined efforts to make this holiday season very special for many San Diegans and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in our community.
